The 2-channel design features ultra-responsive jog wheels with low-latency performance. The ergonomic, club-style layout will get you familiar with the standard design of most DJ controllers. The mixer section features 3-band EQ on each channel, allowing you to blend between songs to build your mixing skills. This controller is designed for use with the rekordbox DJ software. 16 Performance Pads & Loop Control
As well as the standard mixing controls, the Pioneer DDJ-400 includes a range of performance controls, designed to add flare to your performances. Features which have become standard on modern-day controllers include play/pause and cue buttons, tempo sliders and a loop section. There are also cue/loop call buttons, similar to the ones found on the CDJ-2000NXS2. Each channel features 8 performance pads which can be used to trigger FX, shift the key of your song or for triggering samples. Above these are 4 other buttons: Hot Cue, beat Loop, Beat Jump and Sampler. These more advanced buttons are ideal for use when you have built up your mixing skills for a truly unique style.
Integrated Soundcard
One of the most unique features of the DDJ-400 is the integrated sound card. The sound card acts as an audio interface for the controller, eliminating the need for external equipment. The plug and play compatibility allows you to connect the controller to your computer and get setup within seconds. The unit is also USB bus powered, meaning the controller is powered via your USB connections on your computer for added convenience.
Rekordbox Version 5.3
The Pioneer DDJ-400 comes complete with a free license copy of Rekordbox DJ. The latest version of Rekordbox DJ (version 5.3) features a range of enhancements and upgrades. The software is what the controller uses to run music through, allowing you to build song libraries, learn how to DJ and sort your music archive. The tutorial feature within the software is useful for beginners, allowing you to learn the basics with clear and concise tutorials on your computer screen. A new 'Track Suggestion' feature also displays tracks that will match well with the song that is currently playing. This unlocks a new level of versatility, allowing you to preview mixes that you wouldn't have normally thought of for added flexibility. You can also record, edit and share your mixes to social media, complete with track titles and time stamps using the software.
