To design the AT38, Atlantis Lab set itself one rule: no compromise on component quality, in order to build the ultimate high-end loudspeaker based on a 38 cm bass driver. The internal components are the very best available for a speaker of this category.

This is a three-way loudspeaker comprising four drivers. The high-frequency section is handled by a compression tweeter powered by an ultra-powerful neodymium magnet. The diaphragm has been optimised to maintain finesse in reproduction while achieving a very high sensitivity of 98 dB. The midrange is handled by a horn-loaded driver. Finally, the bass is delivered by the impressive 38 cm front woofer, coupled with a second rear woofer. This arrangement, a hallmark of Atlantis Lab, combines the desired qualities of efficiency, compactness, and ultra-low frequency response. The deep 30 Hz notes truly roar when the front woofer, with its lightning-fast acceleration (again, thanks to that sensitivity), comes into play.

Designed and assembled in-house in Puy-de-Dôme, the AT38 follows in the footsteps of its smaller sisters. It is slightly smaller than the AT31, standing 107 cm tall, and keeps its slightly pyramidal shape. Thanks to its reasonably sized footprint (50 × 35 cm), it fits easily into most living rooms.

The synthetic leather covering is superbly executed – the grain is visible but subtle, with perfect tension – and the brown-ash or white colours are timeless and tasteful. The side panels are made of finely worked oak with multiple bevels and grooves, providing extra rigidity and absorbing standing waves and unwanted resonances.

The single binding post at the rear is custom-made in France to exclusive specifications. It is crafted from a high-conductivity copper alloy, with a firm and easy tightening mechanism, compatible with banana plugs and bare wire. The front compression driver features an oval horn output for a striking visual effect. Overall, the craftsmanship is top-notch, blending seamlessly into diverse environments, from modern studios to rustic living rooms.
