What is a turntable?
A turntable is not just a record player, but a way to experience sound the way the artists created it. Playing vinyl records provides a warm, analog sound that no digital technology can replicate. Our collection features over 100 turntable models suitable for both beginners and audiophiles. Pro-Ject, Rega, Thorens, Clearaudio, Audio-Technica , Technics and other world-renowned manufacturers.
Autogarsas in Kaunas has been working in the field of audio equipment since 1997. Over many years, we have helped thousands of customers in Kaunas and throughout Lithuania discover the world of vinyl and find the right turntable and its accessories. In our showroom in Kaunas, you can see and listen to more than 30 carefully selected top-tier turntable models. Professional Autogarsas consultants will advise and help you choose based on your needs and budget.
Why is the sound of vinyl special?
A vinyl record stores sound in an analog format—without digital compression and without lost frequencies. The result is natural high frequencies, warm mid-tones, and an organic, "breathing" bass that gives the feeling that the musicians are playing right there in front of you. Add the ritual of listening to vinyl—taking the record out of the sleeve, dropping the needle into the grooves, looking at the album cover—and you will understand why sales of vinyl records have been growing every year for over 15 years in a row.
How to choose a turntable?
When choosing a record player, the most important factors are the drive type, tonearms, their quality, and the type of cartridge.
Belt-drive turntables
(Pro-Ject, Rega, Thorens, Clearaudio) – the most popular among Hi-Fi enthusiasts. The belt isolates the motor vibrations from the record, resulting in a cleaner and more detailed sound. This is the best choice for listening to music at home.
Direct-drive turntables
(Technics, Audio-Technica, Denon) – characterized by a perfectly stable rotation speed and faster start-up. Preferred by professional DJs, but also excellent for daily listening, especially higher-end models.
MM and replaceable cartridges
For beginners, we recommend turntables with a pre-installed MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge—you can start playing right away without any additional adjustments. For advanced users, we offer models with a replaceable cartridge and a higher-class tonearm, which allows for gradual system upgrades without replacing the player itself.
Most popular turntable manufacturers
Pro-Ject
An Austrian company offering a wide range of models, from the affordable Debut series to audiophile-grade The Classic and Signature models. The best price-to-quality ratio on the market.
Rega
A British Hi-Fi legend famous for its precisely tuned turntables. The Rega Planar series (Planar 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 10) is the benchmark against which other manufacturers are measured.
Thorens
A Swiss company with over 140 years of experience. Thorens turntables combine classic design with modern engineering and excellent sound quality.
Clearaudio
A German High-End manufacturer offering turntables, tonearms, and cartridges for the most audiophile-grade listening experience.
A turntable is the beginning of a system
A record player is the first link in the chain, but the final sound is also influenced by other components:
Cartridge and stylus
These components are in direct contact with the record and determine the sound quality the most. It is recommended to replace the stylus every 800–1,000 hours of playback. A worn-out stylus not only worsens the sound but also permanently damages records. You will find replacement styli for the most popular models in our assortment.
Maintenance
A clean vinyl sounds better and preserves the stylus. Anti-static brushes, record cleaning solutions, and stylus cleaners are in every vinyl lover's arsenal. We suggest choosing all turntable and record maintenance supplies very carefully.
Accessories
High-quality turntable accessories such as clamps/weights, slipmats, anti-vibration feet, level gauges, and tonearm cables help to extract the maximum sound potential from your record player.
To achieve even higher quality sound, a record player requires a suitable amplifier with a phono input and matched speakers. Autogarsas has a wide selection of amplifiers and speakers in our Kaunas showroom. All audio amplifiers and speakers are from only the most famous world manufacturers, ensuring quality and reliability.
