DESCRIPTION
With the large AT31 floorstanding speaker, Atlantis Lab offers its ultimate high-end model. It is also a variation of its professional studio monitor designs. The AT31 hides neither its intentions nor its ambitions. Imposing in size, proudly clad in noble wood and faux leather, it delivers a breathtaking listening experience. Expansive sound, deep bass, a rich and full-bodied midrange, detailed yet smooth highs, and a lush soundstage... the AT31 naturally crowns the already outstanding Atlantis Lab range.
A promise from the very first glance
The AT31 is a large floorstanding loudspeaker with specifications to match. It's a 3-way design, yet it features four drivers. At the top, a compression-chamber tweeter powered by an ultra-powerful neodymium magnet delivers extraordinary sensitivity — over 100 dB for the AT31 — while preserving finesse and detail. Above it sits, for the first time in the Atlantis Lab range, a dedicated 16 cm midrange driver. Bass is handled by a massive 31 cm front-firing woofer, coupled with a 26 cm rear-firing unit. This arrangement, a hallmark of Atlantis Lab, combines high sensitivity, compact design, and very low-frequency extension. The 28 Hz low end truly rumbles when the front woofer, with its lightning-fast response, springs into action.
The AT31 nominally handles around 200 watts, with peaks up to 400 watts, and can be paired with virtually any electronics in any listening room. As with its smaller siblings, the bass reflex port is adjustable — a simple but precise step recommended to fine-tune the AT31 beyond the factory settings, according to your room's acoustics.
Large and well-proportioned
The design is meticulous. Tall, slim, and slightly pyramidal for a sleeker silhouette, it fits into living spaces thanks to a relatively modest footprint (41 × 41 cm). The faux leather wrap is finely textured and perfectly stretched, with timeless black or cream-white finishes. The oak side panels are crafted with bevels and grooves to add rigidity and reduce standing waves and unwanted resonances.
The single rear terminal, made in France to exclusive specifications, is of superb quality, built from high-conductivity copper alloy. It offers a firm, easy grip and accepts both banana plugs and bare wire. The front compression driver is paired with an oval horn mouth, adding a refined visual touch. The overall execution is first-class, making the AT31 equally at home in contemporary interiors or more rustic settings.
A listening experience with no turning back
Listening to the AT31 rewards your anticipation in full. Width, dynamics, transparency, detail, and airiness immediately come to mind — along with sensuality and realism. Despite its specifications, which might suggest a PA-style sound, the AT31 delivers music with sophistication and grace. You quickly find yourself drawn into entire tracks, then another... The music fills the entire room — and your emotions.
The AT31 is an audiophile's invitation to the present moment. In the end, you forget its size and technical specifications, letting yourself be carried away by the finesse, openness, and taut, articulate bass. In comparison, many other speakers seem inert, distant, or lacking in definition — a stark contrast that highlights the genuine merit of the AT31 and Atlantis Lab's achievement in creating a loudspeaker that reaches the heights of pure musical bliss.
