 What is Class D?
 Cambridge Audio's new all-in-one player, the Evo, uses revolutionary Hypex NCore Class D amplification. Until Hypex NCore changed the game, Class D amplification was all about compactness and electrical efficiency, but Hypex NCore also offers a clear advantage when it comes to clarity, definition and direct musicality.
 
It's a big part of what makes the Evo such a pleasant and compelling listen, but there are still some misconceptions about Class D in the audio world. We understand - we're also first-time users of Class D. Our CX sets itself apart from tried and trusted Class AB amplification, for example.

 We asked Francesco Bettucci, Senior Electronics Engineer, to clarify a few things. Francesco joined Cambridge Audio five years ago and spent 10 years designing and manufacturing tube amplifiers before that. He says: “It’s true that Class D used to be a bad idea. It was often associated with cheap products. Now it can perform like Class AB in every way.

Then fire up your favorite music streaming service on a smartphone, tablet or wherever and connect to Evo using the app, Bluetooth or Evo's built-in streaming service support. Pick a tune, press 'play' and adjust the volume to your taste.

Thanks to Evo's big 6.8in high resolution display, you can even enjoy bright, clear and detailed album artwork when you're listening to a streaming service.
