DESCRIPTION

What is Class D? Cambridge Audio’s new all-in-one player, Evo, uses revolutionary Hypex NCore Class D amplification. Until Hypex NCore changed the game, Class D amplification was all about compactness and electrical efficiency, but Hypex NCore also offers a clear advantage when it comes to clarity, resolution, and immediate musicality. This is a big part of what makes Evo such an enjoyable and convincing listen, but there are still some misconceptions about Class D in the audio world. We understand – we’re also using Class D for the first time. Our CX separates, for example, use tried and trusted Class AB amplification. We asked Senior Electronics Engineer Francesco Bettucci to clarify a few things. Francesco joined Cambridge Audio five years ago, and before that, he worked for 10 years designing and manufacturing tube amplifiers. He says: “It’s true that in the past, Class D wasn’t a good solution. Often it was associated with cheap products. Now it can perform like Class AB in every respect.

Easy to set up, easy to use

It couldn’t be simpler. Plug Evo into the mains, wire it to your speakers. Then fire up your favourite music streaming service on a smartphone, tablet or wherever and connect to Evo using the app, Bluetooth or Evo’s built-in streaming service support. Pick a tune, press ‘play’ and adjust the volume to your taste.

Thanks to Evo’s big 6.8in high resolution display, you can even enjoy bright, clear and detailed album artwork when you’re listening to a streaming service.


StreamMagic app

The StreamMagic app offers comprehensive control of the entire Evo system, plus access to the world’s most popular and highest-quality music streaming services. It’s clear, logical and stable - so Evo will do precisely what you want it to, rapidly and accurately, from wherever you are in your home.

Of course, you might prefer the app of your favourite music streaming service - if that’s your preference, no problem. Evo will be just as responsive to your inputs and commands.
