The 9900 Series speakers were created in response to the explosion of bass in music, across all genres. These subwoofers were designed to deliver sustained power, accuracy, and ultra-long excursion.
The 9900 motor is a monster, with a 3-inch magnet stack, a diameter of over 10 inches, and weighing 70 pounds. The traditionally robust DD magnetic gap drives long excursion flat aluminum voice coils to peak excursions exceeding 3 inches, while maintaining enough windings in the magnetic gap to sustain power and control.
Beauty of Beauty
The 4” 9900 coils incorporate the same innovations developed for the Z series coils: a 5-layer former construction with double aluminum sidewalls, perimeter venting, a double slit former to reduce eddy currents, and double-baked and coated for maximum temperature resistance.
