In ancient Greece, quince was associated with the goddess of love Aphrodite. In his works, Plutarch wrote that a Greek bride received a quince as a gift. Usually, before entering the hall, the bride would take a bite of a quince to sweeten her first kiss with her chosen man. That is why this fruit was known as a symbol of love, marriage and fertility.
