Marantz has developed its own discrete boards to replace the standard ICs. These HDAMs consist of discrete surface mount components with short mirror image L/R signal paths. These devices work exactly like the widely used optical amplifiers, but significantly outperform these designs in terms of slew rate and reduced noise levels, producing a more dynamic, accurate and detailed sound. The CD6007's proprietary HDAM-SA2 circuit improves upon the previous HDAM module for even more stable power delivery. Idle current stability is less affected by transistor power temperature to maintain audio efficiency even at high output levels.

Compared to the CD6006, the CD6007 offers an improved and redesigned headphone amplifier unit. The CD6007 inherits the exclusive Marantz HDAM-SA2 circuit with three gain settings (low/mid/high) for a perfect match with almost any brand of headphones for optimal solo listening. However, if you prefer, the headphone amplifier also has a "Shutdown" function that automatically turns off the headphone amplifier when the headphones are not connected to the device to prevent unwanted interference or noise.
